AVIF to WebP converter

Turn AVIF files into WebP for free. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your pictures are never uploaded anywhere.

How to convert AVIF to WebP

  1. Add your AVIF files. Drop one or more .avif files on the box above, or tap it to pick them from your device.
  2. Let it convert. Each picture is converted to WebP in about a second, right in your browser.
  3. Download the WebP. Press Download next to each file. Nothing was sent to a server, so close the tab and it's gone.

What is a AVIF file?

AVIF is a next-generation image format based on the AV1 video codec. It often makes files half the size of JPG with better detail, plus HDR, wide color and transparency.

What is WebP?

WebP is Google's modern web image format. It makes files about 25 to 35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality and supports transparency and animation.

Why convert AVIF to WebP?

AVIF is great for the smallest files for the quality, ideal for fast websites, but many desktop apps, older phones and social media uploaders still can't open AVIF. WebP is the better choice for small files for websites, with transparency; keep in mind some older apps, editors and upload forms still refuse WebP.

Will I lose quality?

WebP uses lossy compression tuned so the difference is invisible at normal use. We use high-quality settings by default, and you can raise the quality slider before converting.

Private by design

Most online converters upload your file to their servers. This one doesn't: the converter itself is loaded into your browser and works offline from there, so your pictures never leave your phone or computer.
