AVIF to PNG converter

Turn AVIF files into PNG for free. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your pictures are never uploaded anywhere.

How to convert AVIF to PNG

  1. Add your AVIF files. Drop one or more .avif files on the box above, or tap it to pick them from your device.
  2. Let it convert. Each picture is converted to PNG in about a second, right in your browser.
  3. Download the PNG. Press Download next to each file. Nothing was sent to a server, so close the tab and it's gone.

What is a AVIF file?

AVIF is a next-generation image format based on the AV1 video codec. It often makes files half the size of JPG with better detail, plus HDR, wide color and transparency.

What is PNG?

PNG is a lossless image format. Every pixel is kept exactly, and it supports full transparency, which makes it the standard for logos, screenshots and graphics.

Why convert AVIF to PNG?

AVIF is great for the smallest files for the quality, ideal for fast websites, but many desktop apps, older phones and social media uploaders still can't open AVIF. PNG is the better choice for lossless quality and transparent backgrounds that work everywhere; keep in mind photos as PNG are much larger than the same photo as JPG or WebP.

Will I lose quality?

No. PNG is lossless, so every pixel that AVIF gave us is kept exactly.

Private by design

Most online converters upload your file to their servers. This one doesn't: the converter itself is loaded into your browser and works offline from there, so your pictures never leave your phone or computer.
