How to convert GIF to PNG

  1. Add your GIF files. Drop one or more .gif files on the box above, or tap it to pick them from your device.
  2. Let it convert. Each picture is converted to PNG in about a second, right in your browser.
  3. Download the PNG. Press Download next to each file. Nothing was sent to a server, so close the tab and it's gone.

What is a GIF file?

GIF is the classic format for short looping animations and simple graphics. It is limited to 256 colors per frame.

What is PNG?

PNG is a lossless image format. Every pixel is kept exactly, and it supports full transparency, which makes it the standard for logos, screenshots and graphics.

Why convert GIF to PNG?

GIF is great for animations that play anywhere without a video player, but only 256 colors, and animated GIFs are very large compared with video. PNG is the better choice for lossless quality and transparent backgrounds that work everywhere; keep in mind photos as PNG are much larger than the same photo as JPG or WebP.

Will I lose quality?

No. PNG is lossless, so every pixel that GIF gave us is kept exactly.

Private by design

Most online converters upload your file to their servers. This one doesn't: the converter itself is loaded into your browser and works offline from there, so your pictures never leave your phone or computer.
