What is a GIF file?

GIF is the classic format for short looping animations and simple graphics. It is limited to 256 colors per frame.

What is JPG?

JPG (JPEG) is the most widely supported picture format in the world. It uses lossy compression tuned for photographs, so files stay small while photos look natural.

Why convert GIF to JPG?

GIF is great for animations that play anywhere without a video player, but only 256 colors, and animated GIFs are very large compared with video. JPG is the better choice for opens everywhere: every phone, browser, email client, website builder and print shop; keep in mind no transparency, and each re-save loses a little quality.

Will I lose quality?

JPG uses lossy compression tuned so the difference is invisible at normal use. We use high-quality settings by default, and you can raise the quality slider before converting.

Private by design

Most online converters upload your file to their servers. This one doesn't: the converter itself is loaded into your browser and works offline from there, so your pictures never leave your phone or computer.
